DESCRIPTION:Please note that the seminar will be conducted in English. \nSpeaker: Romain Svartzman\, Research Fellow at Bocconi University’s Institute for European Policymaking (IEP@BU)\, a Senior Executive Fellow at SDA Bocconi School of Management. \nTitle: Price stability in the low-carbon transition: Taking stock and assessing the implications for monetary policy \n[Based on an ongoing paper written with David Barmes and Andrew Jackson] \nAbstract: The low-carbon transition – driven by policy\, innovation\, and behavioral shifts – will fundamentally reshape relative prices across the global economy. These adjustments can exert significant pressure on headline inflation\, particularly through volatile categories such as energy\, transport\, and food. Whether these shocks result in persistent inflationary pressures depends on their propagation through supply chains\, aggregate demand\, and wage-setting behaviors. This presentation will first take stock of the existing evidence regarding the links between the low-carbon transition and inflation. Such inflationary pressures may compel monetary policymakers to increase interest rates. However\, this could slow down the pace of the transition and amplify inflationary pressures related to climate shocks. This introduces a potential “inflation-green transition trade-off” alongside the traditional inflation-output mandate\, creating a complex intertemporal challenge for central banks. DESCRIPTION:Le modèle TiTAN du CGDD : l’approche technico-économique pour éclairer la planification de la transition écologique\n  \nInvité : Aurélien Stumpf Mascles\, Ministère de la Transition écologique\, de l’Aménagement du territoire\, des transports\, de la ville et du logement / Commissariat Général au Développement Durable / Service de l’Économie et de l’Évaluation / Bureau de la Transition énergétique et Solidaire \nRésumé \nTiTAN est un modèle technico-économique d’optimisation du système énergétique français. Il est développé\, maintenu et exploité au Commissariat général au développement durable (CGDD) et a été cofinancé par le CGDD\, la direction générale de l’énergie et du climat (DGEC) et France Stratégie. Basé sur une représentation explicite et détaillée des technologies qui composent le système énergétique (production-distribution d’énergie\, transport\, bâtiments\, industrie\, CCS)\, il permet de calculer la trajectoire d’investissement et d’activité la moins coûteuse\, à jeu d’hypothèses donné\, pour atteindre un objectif de baisse des émissions à long terme tout en satisfaisant la demande en services énergétiques. Il a vocation à éclairer la décision publique dans la planification de la transition vers la neutralité carbone. DESCRIPTION:(English only) \nOverview\nClimate change\, resource depletion\, technological disruption\, and social inequalities are all pressing issues. How we have approached these problems may no longer be sufficient. The urgency of climate action\, the need for sustainable development\, and the critical role of finance in achieving both are unprecedented challenges. New situations call for new ways of thinking to mitigate climate change through financial solutions and sustainable investments and adapt to its impacts by building resilience and securing financial resources. \nThe 2026 International Symposium on Climate\, Finance\, and Sustainability (ISCFS-2026) aims to bring together a global community of leaders\, experts\, and innovators to address the above-mentioned interconnected issues.
