The Chair visited for you the “Carbon Footprint” exhibition

Published on 04 November 2024

🌍 Inspiring visit to the “Carbon Footprint” exhibition at the MusĂ©e des Arts et MĂ©tiers!

Want to understand the challenges of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050? We highly recommend this exhibition, open until May 11, 2025! 💚

The Exhibition: Designed to be both fun and interactive, it invites visitors to dive into the concept of the carbon footprint, a central issue in the fight against climate change. The exhibition offers an immersive journey through key themes: energy extraction, product manufacturing, transportation, and end-of-life processes, while exploring alternatives for building a low-carbon future.

Focus: The exhibition challenges our consumption habits through interactive workshops centered around topics such as food, clothing, transportation, and multimedia. Each section encourages reflection on the impact of our daily choices, with statistics and definitions to help us understand the footprint of our actions.

Scientific Perspective: An effective simplification of complex issues, with clear and impactful infographics. We particularly appreciated the mention of transition scenarios by Ademe. However, one limitation is that, as far as we know, the exhibition does not address the average carbon footprint of a French person or the total emissions of France (or other countries). As a reminder, meeting the Paris Agreement goals will require reducing individual carbon footprints to around 2 tons of CO2 per person, compared to 9.2 tons currently in France (2022, source: Ministry of Ecological Transition). There is still a long way to go.

What we loved: The exhibition calculated its own carbon footprint! Thanks to eco-friendly design, they saved the equivalent of 8 tons of CO2 — nearly the annual carbon footprint of an average French person.

In just an hour, the exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of the carbon footprint issue. Perfect for raising awareness among both young and old, it serves as an excellent alternative to ‘La Fresque du Climat’, offering a fun and engaging way to introduce loved ones to environmental challenges. đŸŒ±
